Monschau is a beautiful small town about an hour away by bus from Aachen, located in the hills of the Eifel, in the narrow valley of the Rur river. The historic city center wasn’t destroyed in World War II, many half-timbered houses and narrow streets nearly haven’t changed for 300 years. Above the city is the Burg Monschau, a castle that started being built in the 13th century.
The city is full of cozy restaurants and cafes, very pleasant to walk around and take photographs.
We’ll definitely go back there to explore more … enjoy our pictures on our photo gallery

Last sunday was our favorite day so far in Germany, we visited the Baha’i House of Worship of the European continent, just outside Frankfurt. We started the day by taking the train to Anne and Nuri’s home near Köln (Cologne), had a delicious brunch and left by car to Langenhain. The weather wasn’t promising, but as we were approaching Hofheim it cleared out and we had beautiful blue skies. Our visit started by having tea at the visitors center, where everyone was very kind, then we headed to the gardens and the temple.
Bahá’í Houses of Worship are gathering places for prayer and meditation and are open to people of every religion, they all have nine sides and a central dome. There are at the moment a total of 7 Baha’i Temples in the world: United States, Panama, Germany, Uganda, Australia, Samoa and India, more will be built in time and in the future each will become the focus of community life, as well as a center for social, scientific, educational, and humanitarian services.

Here we are in Germany, coming from summer in Brazil where temperatures were 33C to
winter in Germany 1C !!! Stefan has been transferred to the Ericsson office in Aachen for a period of six months since beginning of February and Leonora will be soon attending German classes and other activities as well. Aachen is a very charming city, located at the border with Belgium and Holland, so hopefully we’ll be able to do some traveling around. We are very pleased with our apartment, it’s right next to the city park and 15 minutes walk from the main square. We’ll be constantly updating this blog and the photo gallery, we hope you enjoy …
